01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

A soft serve after dinner or drinks makes for a simple late-night treat. At imakaraICE, the choice ranges from straightforward flavours to cups with a generous array of toppings. One visitor ordered the salted vanilla and enjoyed the contrast of a delicate saltiness and crunchy cookie pieces. The combination stood out for its crisp texture and sweetness with a little more going on. The menu also highlights the cookie crunch, making this a good option whether you want to keep things simple or try a soft serve with a twist.

For toppings with a Japanese flavour, try the kuromitsu kinako shiratama or matcha shiratama. The former comes with sweet red bean paste, shiratama rice-flour dumplings and kinako warabi mochi. The matcha version pairs Uji matcha sauce with shiratama, matcha warabi mochi and sweet red bean paste. Both bring several Japanese ingredients together in one dessert. Coffee soft serve is another option if you fancy something less overtly sweet. It is served with coffee jelly and coffee syrup, and one diner said the soft serve and jelly worked particularly well together. The coffee adds a pleasantly bittersweet note.

Rice-flour churros are also listed on the menu, including versions with kuromitsu kinako or chocolate sauce. A diner who tried the churros described them as light rather than greasy. Choosing between ice cream and a bite-sized snack—or ordering different treats to share—adds to the fun.

Both takeaway and eating in are available. One visitor who mainly took their order to go noted that there were seats inside, too. Opening hours vary by day: Monday to Friday, 17:00 until 1:00 the following day; Saturday and Sunday, 14:00 until 1:00 the following day. It is an option for a little something sweet after dinner or an evening out in Tennoji.
